Terms and Conditions

Last updated 12 October 2026

Sound of Scripture is a non-profit Christian ministry that shares Scripture set to music. These terms explain what you may expect from us and what we ask of you when you use thesoundofscripture.com, subscribe to our weekly email, or give towards the ministry. By using the site you accept these terms.

1. Who we are

Sound of Scripture (“we”, “us”, “the ministry”) operates this website from New Zealand. You can reach us at any time at [email protected] or through our contact page.

2. Using the site

The recordings, texts and pictures on this site are offered freely for personal devotion, family worship, church services, small groups, schools and other non-commercial Christian use. You are welcome to listen, download, share the links and play the songs in your gatherings.

We ask that you do not:

  • sell our recordings, or include them in a product or service that is sold;
  • re-publish them as your own work, or remove the attribution to Sound of Scripture;
  • edit a recording in a way that changes the meaning of the Scripture it carries;
  • use the site to break the law, to harass anyone, or to attempt to gain access to parts of it that are not public.

If you would like to use our material in some other way, please ask us — we would rather say yes than have you guess.

3. Scripture and music rights

Bible passages are quoted from publicly available translations and remain the property of their respective publishers. The arrangements, recordings, artwork and video on this site belong to Sound of Scripture and the musicians credited with each track, and are made available to you under the permissions described in section 2.

4. The weekly email

When you enter your address in the subscription form you are asking us to send you the weekly Sound of Scripture email: a new passage, the recording that goes with it, and occasional news from the ministry. We send it once a week, normally on the same day and at the same time.

We use your address for that email only. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and one click is enough — you do not need to explain yourself or write to us first. You can also unsubscribe from our unsubscribe page at any time.

5. What we store

We keep as little as we can. Subscribing stores your email address and the date you subscribed. Writing to us through the contact form sends us your name, address and message so that we can reply. Our server keeps ordinary web logs, which include IP addresses, for security and for counting visits.

Your list of favourite passages is kept in your own browser, not on our server, so it stays with the device you use and disappears if you clear your browser data. Some pages are served through a content delivery network, which may set a technical cookie needed to deliver the page.

You may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to [email protected].

6. Giving to the ministry

Gifts made through our support page are voluntary and go towards recording, hosting and sharing Scripture in song. A gift is not a purchase and buys nothing in return. If you give by mistake, or give the wrong amount, write to us and we will do our best to put it right. Please make sure your own bank details are correct before you send a transfer; we cannot recover a payment sent to the wrong account.

7. Other sites and services

We link to YouTube and to other sites we think will help you. Those sites have their own terms and their own way of handling your information, and we are not responsible for their content.

8. Availability and limits

We offer this site as it is, and we keep it running as faithfully as we can, but we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of mistakes. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from using — or being unable to use — the site or the material on it. Nothing here limits any right you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act or the Fair Trading Act that cannot be limited.

9. Changes to these terms

As the ministry grows these terms may need to change. The current version always lives on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

11. Getting in touch

Questions about these terms, about your subscription, or about using our recordings are always welcome: [email protected].
